SO happy for this pair who are due to wed in the Lake District in April next year.
All the finalist deserved to win, but Mark and Ali had an amazing support from their family, friends and it helped to win this competition.
Here is a little story and information about their upcoming amazing wedding:
Date of your wedding
11th April 2015
Your wedding location and venue
Silverholme House, Windermere, Lake District
Please tell us about your wedding day, using 300 words as a guide, we’d like to get a sense of the vibe and feel for your day!
Our wedding is taking place in a beautiful country house on the shore of Lake Windermere in Cumbria. It will be a laid-back family affair with plenty of food, drink, kids, games, silliness, music and love. We both love a classic nineteen forties/fifties aesthetic, as well as all things Mediterranean (Mark proposed in Spain and we’ve taken wonderful trips as a couple to Barcelona, Venice, Majorca), and our wedding will be by the water, so we want to transport our guests to a vintage Mediterranean nautical paradise.
Most of our guests are staying for three nights in Silverholme House or the cottages nearby, and we’re counting on many of their help the day before the wedding to help set up our marquee with homemade touches including DIY flowers (gypsophilia with wildflowers for splashes of colour), yards upon yards of lace bunting, tea lights everywhere and a huge homemade chocolate brownie stack wedding cake.
On our wedding morning, Mark and I will both be getting ready in Silverholme’s classic, elegant surroundings (Mark and his boys in an outhouse so we’re under separate roofs) and I’ll transform (hopefully!) into a red-lipped, soft pin-curled, Jenny-Packham-attired vintage beauty, flanked by six cute little bridesmaids and page boys aged two to ten in pale blue and beige linen.
The wedding ceremony is happening in a clean, white, beautifully lit converted barn on site and will feature music and readings which are very special to us (we think, and hope, we are the first couple in history to use Mark Darcy’s speech to Bridget Jones about loving her just as she is!).
After the ceremony it will be time for giant Jenga, peach bellinis and Mediterranean snacks at the waterside with music from my dad’s brass band, followed by a sit-down feast involving tomatoes, olives and lots of chorizo. As the light fades, we will light a sea of tealights and dance the night away with our guests to Northern Soul and Motown classics.
We can’t wait.
Please tell us why you would like to win this competition
Not long ago, I read a comment by a bride in her ‘Words of Wedded Widsom’ on a real wedding on Lovemydress, which said that the only things you take away from your wedding are your memories, rings and photos, and for that reason it’s really important to invest well in capturing the memories. Because family is so important to us, and because we both have huge families, we’ve blown most of our budget on having a big, inclusive, family-friendly wedding, and we don’t have the funds left for the quality of photographer we would like, or for a videographer at all. We know that we will have a wonderful day, but to win this competition would mean that our wonderful day would be captured beautifully forever, and that would be a dream come true.
